Discefa’s freezer warehouse equipped with mobile pallet racking (Video)

Discefa, specialist wholesale suppliers of octopus and one of the main exporters to the United States, has increased its frozen product storage capacity thanks to the mobile pallet racking solution designed and installed by AR Racking.

Based in Cambre (A Coruña, Galicia), with a subsidiary in the United States and an international sales network that allows it to sell octopus in more than 40 countries on 5 continents, Discefa leads a volatile sector that demands a high degree of product purchasing and stock precision. With a policy of “total control over the product during the entire process”, the octopus distributor giant entrusted AR Racking with equipping its new warehouse with a -24ºC freezing chamber.

AR Racking installed a mobile pallet racking storage system, which is where the racking is placed on chassis or mobile bases guided along fixed rails on the floor. It is also an ideal cold storage solution due to the high density of the system and reduced volume to cool. In addition, it allows the uniform circulation of air throughout the chamber. With this installation, DISCEFA has increased its storage capacity by 2,636 pallets over a 1,100 m² area.

AR Racking’s northwest office, based in A Coruña, has extensive experience in storage projects for cold stores and freezing chambers, due to the particularity of the market in both Galicia and Asturias. According to Ricardo García, area sales representative, “our uprights are galvanised so they perfectly resist extreme conditions like those in freezing chambers” and added that “we proposed the customer a solution with mobile bases because a compact system helps reduce the surface area occupied by the warehouse”.
