New AR Racking storage system for Dimel Castilla

The company Dimel Castilla, an electrical equipment distributor belonging to the Sonepar Group, has commissioned AR Racking to improve the logistics performance of their new warehouse in Leganés.

Dimel Castilla has 34 years of experience and a history of consolidated growth. Since 2007 it has been part of the Sonepar Group and operates in the centre of mainland Spain as specialists in lighting and electrical equipment. With a staff of 87, it had a turnover of €31,200,000 in 2015.

The team at AR Racking has worked in close collaboration with specialists from the company and the group to analyze the storage requirements and find a solution to improve the situation given the complexities of the space in question and instable temperatures. Based on the results of these discussions, AR has designed and installed a mixed storage system combining three different spaces: a selective rack or conventional pallet storage zone, a coil storage zone and a pick zone.

The conventional pallet racking offers the advantage of immediate access and the versatility of being able to adapt to any type of load unit or forklift truck. AR has installed a structure with a capacity for 2732 pallets of up to 900 kg and a frame-height of 7 m. The installation has a transversal walkway beneath the racking.

The pick zone is designed to accommodate evolutions in capacity and size over time. It has a capacity of 1064 picking positions of up to 700 kg measuring 2.4 m x 1.0-1.2 m. All the levels in this area, and some of the pallet storage zone, have a mesh panel as the load surface. With a frame height of 3.5 m, the structure can be extended to 8 m in the future, trebling the number of levels and with 2 raised aisles.

The Dimel Castilla warehouse is finished with shelving for the coils with a capacity for 528 coils of up to 2000 kg and a frame height of 6 m.
